I am, give or take a couple of things, unpacked. A couple more weeks and it might be home.

I filed for divorce this morning. Having waded through all the annoying paperwork, I was almost surprised how easy that part was. (Except I had to run to the ATM, because I forgot that they'd only take cash or check (have I mentioned how amazingly stupid it is that getting divorced costs fifteen times as much as getting married?).) Now I have a tiny little receipt and the promise of a hearing.
[livejournal.com profile] tpau and I have come to terms with our marriage being at an end. There is no fault, only life. Logistics and paperwork have yet to be sorted out. Details as they happen.

Ordinary fuckin' people. I hate 'em. An ordinary person spends his life avoiding tense situations. A repoman spends his life getting into tense situations.
...
The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.
...
Well, do you ever get the feeling that the story's
too damn real and in the present tense?
Or that everybody's on the stage, and it seems like
you're the only person sitting in the audience?
...
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?
...
So we shall let the reader answer the question for himself. Who is the happier man, he who has braved the storm of life and lived, or he who has stayed securely on shore and merely existed?
